Bellingara Welsh Mountain Ponies

Our Welsh Mountain Pony stud was started in the year 2000 with the purchase of the Supreme Champion Welsh Pony Exhibit at the Sydney Royal Show, "Trentlyn Benson". Soon after, we scouted Welsh Pony studs in NSW and Victoria for suitable Welsh Pony Section A mares to breed and show, eventually finding some lovely Welsh pony fillies from Dalgangle stud. Our Welsh pony mare herd has since grown to have a great number of Royal and All Welsh winners, featuring bloodlines from

Welsh Pony Breeding Goals

As breeders of Welsh ponies, our pony breeding programme has the following aims - to produce ponies that have

  • excellent movement and conformation
  • true to type Welsh Pony characteristics
  • suitability to be shown at the highest levels

Our Welsh pony farm also strives to breed ponies with temperaments suitable for children to handle and ride.

Our Welsh Pony Stud Achievements

The largest and most competitive Welsh pony shows in Australia are the state Royal shows, and the state All Welsh shows. The Australian states of New South Wales and Victoria usually have the most entries, and highest quality ponies, owing to the greater concentration of pony studs in these states. In recent years we haven't attended the Vic All Welsh due to the rising cost of fuel and difficulty in taking time off for the event. However, from our limited attendance at this event, we've won:
